A closer look at the standardized booklet format.
The permit's format — a small booklet with translated license details in a consistent, standardized layout — exists specifically so that officials and rental staff in many different countries can recognize its structure at a glance, even without reading every language it includes. This consistency is the core reason the document works as well as it does.
Because the format is standardized, a permit issued through one recognized provider will generally look and function the same way as one issued through another, provided both follow the same underlying formatting conventions.
